My Favorite Face in May | Belmont CA Custom Photography | I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

This week over at I Heart Faces is “People’s Choice” Favorite Faces in May. I feel bad choosing one of my kids faces over another (insert sad face here). But for this month, this photograph is my favorite. I love this photo of N and all of the wonderful yummy backlight. I promise myself next month, my favorite face will be of my very handsome little boy.

My family twelve times | SF Bay Area Peninsula Family Photography

Here we are in the month of May, and I am still waiting for the sun to shine, CONSISTENTLY!  I love natural light photography, but the important key, is that I must have that warm gorgeous yummy light.  This month I took every opportunity to capture my sweet family when the sun was peeking out the overcast clouds, here on the San Francisco Peninsula.

You can see Nicole is yet again in her pink sweatpants (thanks uncle Loren and aunt Beth), and now Noah has joined in on this fashion choice of blue sweatpants EVERY weekend (thanks again, uncle Loren and aunt Beth).  Just when I was convinced that I wouldn’t get a picture of these two without the sweatpants, I was able to sneek a picture in this weekend, for a double feature of my family twelve time!

The evolution of a tantrum.
Lasted 1 minute.

I’m not above capturing these moments, because I know she won’t believe me when she is in her twenties when I tell her she was a bit dramatic at times!

Bay Area Peninsula Child Photograher | Fifty-two on Friday {Flowers}

Welcome back to my Fifty-two on Friday, or Project 52 post. We are on week 20 of the creative journey with 16 other photographers across the globe exploring different prompts or themes each week. I am really proud of my self for sticking with this project. It is not easy every week to come up with something creative to represent the themes or prompts. But I am growing as a photographer through this journey, and I am thankful to the women who show up with me, and to my readers that follow this post each week!  This week our theme is Flowers. I took a pretty literal approach, but there is a story here…

This week I established a baseline read of my health with my first mammogram. This is after my amazing aunt and even more amazing mom were diagnosed with breast cancer in the last 24 months. My husband and I were happy to know that my scans were clean. As a token of love for me and thankfulness for a clean scan, he went out an bought me my favorite flowers! Pink peonies are my fav, they are full of life, happy, colorful Flowers.

Now, don’t forget to check out all of the wonderfully creative takes on this week’s theme by clicking the link to the wonderful Melissa Deakin | Williamsville, NY Family and Child Photographer!  She is one of my favorites and her images make me swoon each week!

San Mateo Peninsula Child Photographer | Fix-it-Friday | I Heart Faces

Just because I have a few minutes while the kids nap.  It is always nice once in a while to try edit another person’s photo.

In case you are interested, I edited soley in Photoshop CS5. First I adjusted brightness and contrast using levels. Adjusted the white balance in levels. Popped the eyes with dodging, burning and sponge tool. Corrected for skin tones with a levels adjustment. Add a soft light layer and masked back most of the skin. Brightened again in levels. Ran Florabella’s Pandora from the Luxe I set, adjusted opacity to about 25%. Sharpened for web.

High School Senior Photographer SF Bay Area Peninsula | Fifty-two on Fridays {SOOC} |

I am back this week with a group of ladies from The Bloom Forum and our Project 52 Blog Circle. Each week 17 different photographers from around the globe are encouraged to think creatively to interpret a theme or prompt. We post our photographic interpretation as part of blog-circle. If you would like to catch up on previous weeks theme, check out Vintage, Rainbows, Mother Nature for starters. At the end of my post, link to the next photographer in the blog-circle to catch a glimpse of her interpretation of the theme. This circle is pure eye candy with loads of soulful interpretations.

This week our group theme was SOOC, or otherwise know to photographers as “Straight Out Of Camera”. This theme shouldn’t be hard for any of us, since any picture has a a SOOC rendered image. SOOC shots can speak of the vision that the photographer had when the image was taken. Most photographers spend some time in the digitial darkroom with the SOOC capture, honing the image to the photographers final image. The thing about SOOC images, is that the better the quality (i.e. exposure, light, composition) SOOC, the easier it is to bring a vision to life in the digital darkroom.

For my SOOC shot today, I chose an image from a recent “Bloom Forum” meet up in Santa Cruz, CA. This lovely teen showed us some serious high jumps during her session. And, of course I couldn’t resist showing you the final processed image.

Thankful Thursday | SF Bay Area Peninsula Lifestyle Photography

I am blessed with and thankful for an amazing husband. In our family he gives and gives and gives. He doesn’t ask for much in return (except for maybe a new bike every couple of years or so and a kiss goodnight)

Thankful.

Sometime you just need a little sunshine | Bay Area Peninsula Child Photography

The weather in Northern California is COLD right now.  I am a 100% solar-powered kind of girl.  I grew up just over the SF Bay in Clayton CA, where in the month of May you wore shorts and tanks and it was HOT.   Like 100 degree weather HOT.  Today’s post is plea for the warmth of summer to hurry and be here for good.  I just need a little sunshine!

San Mateo Peninsula Family Photographer | Fifty-two on Friday {Water}

I am so excited that Friday is here because that means I get to share the day with 17 wonderful photographers from The Bloom Forum. We are participating in a Project 52 blog-circle based on a weekly theme. If you have missed some of our other themes, check out Books, Motion, and Vintage. To catch a glimpse of everyone’s take on each week’s theme remember to link to the photographer at the end of my post.

This week our prompt is WATER.  I knew just what I wanted to share with all of you, my kids first trip to the Pacific Ocean, this last Sunday, on Mother’s Day.  Both of them at first stood in wonderment at how big the ocean is.  My son exclaimed, “Mommy, this is gonna be super awesome!”  Imagine the huge smile on this face.

Personally, I love the swirling blue water of the Pacific Ocean.  I love to stand in front of it, and only hear the waves crash, for in that moment I can’t hear myself think.  I am afraid of the Ocean’s amazing depth, power and life.  I respect its waters and hope to teach my children to do the same.

What is ironic and funny, is this was their first real trip to the Ocean and we only live 7 miles away from some of the most amazing coastline in California. This trip was a total success and we will definitely be back many more times

Now take the time and head on over to the wonderful and creative Shea Parker | Clinton MS, Child Photographer

We all love blog love!
